According to the contractor, reaching the cable was the main challenge, with the site located away from established access routes and on ground where the use of conventional heavy equipment would have been problematic.
Carrying out the repairs

The 54T was chosen for its compact footprint and tracked chassis, which allowed it to reach the site without the need for trackway or temporary roadways. Once in position, the repair team were able to elevate to the perfect height for the repair. The lift features an eight section main boom topped by a four section articulating jib.
Maximum up & over reach is 44 metres, at which point it has 15 metres of outreach

The operation was completed within a few hours, reducing site disruption and the duration of network restrictions.
