Machine Safety

All machinery displayed at Vertikal Days must comply with current health and safety regulations and industry best practice.

Please ensure the following guidelines are followed:

  • Ensure all machines are in a safe and proper condition, with current certificates, inspections and documentation where required.
  • All machines must have suitable ground supports (pads, plates etc.) to prevent sinking. This applies to all machinery, including wheeled units.
  • Exhibitors must have appropriate spillage kits available on their stand in case of hose failure or fluid leaks. Costs may be incurred if ground contamination occurs.
  • Machines that are elevated must not be left unattended during build-up, event days or breakdown.
  • When operating machines, booms must not extend over neighbouring stands or over roads and walkways between stands.
  • If machines are elevated, close attention must be given to prevailing wind speeds. Machines must be lowered to a safe height in high winds.
  • Ensure all keys and loose items are removed from machines when not in use.
  • Any flags or banners attached to equipment must be securely fixed so they cannot fall when elevated. Banners must not be suspended from elevated scissor-type machines.
  • Machines must only be operated by competent and qualified operators (e.g. IPAF PAL Card or other recognised qualification). Passengers must not operate machinery unless supervised by stand personnel.
  • Machines must not be moved off stands unless in an emergency.
