Bronzeshield marks 40 years with Grove
UK rental company Bronzeshield has taken delivery of an 80 tonne Grove GMK4080L All Terrain crane, 40 years on from when it purchased its first 70 tonne Wilhelmshave built crane, the Krupp 70 GMT-AT, some nine years before Grove acquired Krupp mobile cranes and its northern German production facility. Grove was then acquired by Manitowoc in 2002. See: news[193].

The four axle GMK4080L has a 60 metre, seven section main boom with an optional 8.7 to 15 metre bi-fold swingaway extension with up to 40 degrees of offset and manual or hydraulic luffing, for a maximum tip height of 78 metres. It can carry up to 13.3 tonnes of its 19.1 tonne counterweight within 12 tonnes axle limits or achieve 10 tonnes axle loads with 5.2 tonnes of counterweight. The unit joins other Grove All Terrains, including the news[39804](300 tonne GMK6300L-1), a news[47884](250 tonne GMK5250XL-1), and a news[43496](150 tonne GMK5150XL.)

Bronzeshield said: “The original Krupp 70 GMT-AT represented the cutting edge of mobile crane technology in its day, as one of the pioneering All Terrain cranes operating in the UK market, it helped demonstrate the benefits of combining highway mobility with off-road capability, setting new standards for versatility and productivity in the industry, the Krupp 70 GMT-AT had a 37.2 metre main boom which is dwarfed in comparison to the boom length on its modern four axle cousin. We are proud to celebrate a remarkable 40 year working relationship with Grove /Manitowoc.”
Manitowoc UK sales director, James Leishman added: "We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Bill Frost and the entire team at Bronzeshield for their valued partnership over the past 40 years with Manitowoc. We truly appreciate the dedication, professionalism, and cooperation demonstrated throughout this long-standing relationship."
