BE SAFE - VERTIKAL DAYS 2025
Our industry sells safety - whether lifting people or loads - and as such, all of us, companies and individuals alike, are on show over the two days and need to set the very best example.
This year we are returning to Newark, a new site where ground conditions vary from concrete, to tarmac to metal trackway so please make yourselves familiar with the ground conditions on your stand. For those of you with stands on heavy duty trackway, you can view the specifications here Trackway
Please only take vehicles into the show ground that really need to be there, aisle blockages cause frustration that leads to risks being taken and accidents happening. If you do take your car or truck into the grounds, please keep your speed down to under 10mph - it is a small space you will still cover it in seconds.
When unloading with ramps, use a winch - this is not the place to have a machine roll away!
Please be sensible and overcautious, more haste = less speed.

The fork lift will only be used to assist with unloading, moving or loading items which have suitable dedicated lifting points.
Use mats under outrigger pads, always - even on hard standing - we are also setting an example of how things should be done.
A full body harness with a short restraint lanyard must be worn in all boom lifts, for both unloading and operating. Not only does it make sense and saves lives, but once again, we are all supposed to be setting the best example here.
If possible, stow booms and scissor lifts at night, some large booms will of course need to be left elevated, if so, keep an eye to where the boom would creep down to if the unthinkable happened and position the machine appropriately - just in case. And... don’t forget that rearward stability is often a greater risk than tipping forward.
Indoor only machines should not be elevated in outside areas, also be aware on all machines of the sail effect that a flag or banner can have on a machine. Caution is the key- assume an overnight hurricane.
Cordon-off areas where a platform or crane boom is going to be lowered, pay particular attention when lowering a scissor lift with extended platform.
Avoid working at height wherever possible while unloading and rigging. Thousands of serious injuries are caused by falls from low levels, such as the bed of a trailer, or the superstructure of a crane. Be aware and be careful.
In case of emergency a medical team and ambulance are on site during build-up, show days and breakdown. They are located close to the Organisers office. We also have first aid kits in the Organisers office.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Organising team for assistance and guidance. Please remember we/you do not want to be the subject of any incident whether minor or at worst serious. Please report any concerns on safety to the show Safety Officer who can be contacted via the Organiser’s Office.
MACHINE SAFETY
Ensure that your machine/s are in a safe, proper condition with current certificates, inspections etc.
That the machines to be displayed will have suitable ground supports (pads, plates etc) to prevent any possible ‘sinking’. This applies to ALL machinery, even wheeled units.
All stands should have adequate spillage kits, should a hose failure or spillage occur. (Costs could be incurred if ground contamination occurs).
That any machines that are elevated are NOT left unattended during the show build-up, show time and breakdown.
If machines are to be operated, then the booms must not stray over adjoining stands, or over the road/walkways between stands.
If machines are elevated, close attention must be given to the prevailing wind speed, machines must be lowered to a safe height in the event of high wind speeds.
Ensure that all keys and/or loose items are removed from the machines.
Any flags or banners to be ‘hung’ from equipment must be secured in such a manner that they may not fall whilst elevated. Do not suspend any banners from any elevated scissor type machine.
Machines must only be operated by competent operators eg IPAF Pal Card or other accepted qualification. Passengers must not be permitted to operate a machine without the stand personnel providing close supervision.
Machines must not be moved off stands unless due to an emergency
